Course Outline
1 or 2 weeks
Teacher Training:
Module 1:
- Describing language and language skills (e.g. grammar, lexis, writing, reading etc.)
- Background to language learning (e.g. motivation, errors, learner needs etc.)
- Background to language teaching (e.g. presentation techniques, assessment types etc.)
Module 2:
- Planning and preparing a lesson or sequence of lessons (e.g. aims, activities etc.)
- Selection and use of resources and materials (e.g. coursebooks, teaching aids etc.)
Module 3:
- Teachers' and learners' language in the classroom (e.g. appropriacy, functions etc.)
- Classroom management (e.g. correcting learners, giving feedback etc.)
Cultural Excursions:
- Tour of Dublin
- Riverdance
- Tour of Drogheda
- Irish dancing demonstration (and lesson!)
- Newgrange

TKT Preparation Course
for English Language Teachers
Open to all English language teachers.
Prepare for and sit the prestigious Cambridge TKT exam. All of the key syllabus areas will be covered as well as exam tips and sample exam papers
In Ireland we work hard but we also know how to relax. When you are not in the college improving your teaching you will be exploring Ireland. Whether it's world heritage site Newgrange , the world famous Riverdance show or a quiet pint of Guiness listening to traditional Irish music in the pub, this will be a trip to remember.
