


Students can join our general English courses every Monday morning. The student will sit an Oxford Placement test, including a speech test on arrival before going to class and following the result of this, will join a class suited to his/her level.
All students are subject to ongoing assessment by the teachers. The student will then join the general English class.
Students can choose from Morning, Afternoon or Evening classes:
Morning Classes are held Monday-Friday from 09.00 – 13.00. There is a 30 minute break each morning from 10.30 – 11.00 and a 10 minute break from 12.00 – 12.10.
Afternoon Classes are held every Monday-Friday from 13.00 - 17.00. There is a 30 minute break each afternoon from 14.30 – 15.00 and a 10 minute break from 16.00 – 16.10.
Evening Classes are held every Monday-Friday from 18.00 - 21.30.
Small classes (maximum 15 per class) ensure personal attention for each student, and each course is relevant to the professional area of the student in response to the specific and special needs of the individual.
The aim of the classes is be to improve the communicative competence of the individual in all contexts and situations – social, inter-personal, academic and professional. The focus will be on developing the communication skills of the student, with special emphasis on speaking, pronunciation and listening.
All of our English teachers are university graduates with TEFL certificates, many with experience of living an working abroad. Edgewater Coallege boasts a variety of nationalities from all corners of the globe. We encourage students to mix with the different nationalities and regularly organise social events for the students.
A self-access library is stocked with graded language materials if you wish to carry out further studies outside of normal class hours. Teaching staff are available to assist students with their extra study sessions.
