“ Well, I’ve been studying at this school for 4 months and I’m enjoying it a lot because my English has improved dramatically since I arrived here. I have met people from all over the world in the college and we can share our culture and knowledge, it is very interesting. My favourite thing about the town of Drogheda is the people, they are very friendly. There are also a lot of touristy places to visit, it’s a really nice and quiet place. The biggest differences between here and Brazil so far is the weather, but there are others too, for example the traditional foods, the price of clothes, cars, food and so on. I’m still learning a lot here, the teachers are very competent and teach us very well. I’m sure that I will learn much more during the time I will stay here. I would recommend this college because it’s very nice and I can see the improvement in everybody here, all the people that work here are really friendly and they are ready to help us anytime we need. I want to thank everyone for supporting me in this great school. Thank you.”

"I found this course hugely beneficial, challenging and enjoyable. It gave me plenty of invaluable teaching experience in front of two different groups of learners. It helped enhance my confidence and develop my teaching skills. The staff are friendly and extremely willing to go over and above to help. The course is very demanding at points, as it is very intense - you have to say goodbye to your weekends for the four weeks. However, it is really worth it in the end".

try to solve them. The town of Drogheda is very nice, I find the people very

cheerful and agreeable. I’ll

I came to Edgewater College in Ireland to improve my English and stayed for 4 weeks. The course was very interesting indeed and the teachers were very accommodating and easy to talk to. All the staff other than teachers were very friendly and helpful. I got to visit a lot of interesting places and also went to see the famous Riverdance show in Dublin. I enjoyed my time in Drogheda and hopefully will come back one day.

I am doing a Diploma in Business Management, and find the lecturers brilliant and the classes very well prepared. Studying at Edgewater College has given me the confidence and focus to achieve the best career in life. Its very affordable too, so guys this is the time and place to start your career!

The town of Drogheda is a very nice and quiet place to be, you can relax, put your feet up, and let your hair down. The people are very friendly and there a lot of nice, and interesting things about the town. Finally, I just want to thank all the staff and in particular my lecturers Martin and John. As they say in Drogheda: Thanks for putting up with me."

"I have been here for over a year now, the best bit about Edgewater are the good teachers and the possibility to schedule my classes regarding my availability. It is a good network to meet people from different countries and cultures. The town has a lot of facilities including stores, cinema, pubs, good restaurantsetc and it's not far from Dublin. It is a good spot for nice walksand visits (eg: Newgrange, Tara etc). I have learnt a lot here and feel more comfortable and confident with my English speaking."

"I attended Edgewater College from July 2003 – July 2005 as a student. I have been a lecturer here since July 2005 until present. The best bit about Edgewater College is the ideal learning environment, helpful and motivating staff.

There is an overall friendly atmosphere which makes students like me feel at home after so far away from the family. Drogheda is a peaceful and beautiful town with friendly people. It is far away from the busy life as seen in Dublin.

I wish to settle in Drogheda if only I can get appropriate visa status. I met my husband here in Drogheda at the college, we are now married and have a baby - my life is so woven now with Drogheda and Edgewater College as I work for it now. I wish to stay and live here in the years to come. That would be my dream come true."

"I came to Ireland to improve my aviation English because I am a civil pilot. If you are interested in studying or improving your aviation English, I think that Edgewater College is the best Institute to learn. They have experienced teachers such as Mr Barry who has over 40 years teaching experience in universities and has a pilot license."

"This college is the best. I like my teacher Margaret very much. I am happy with her methods of teaching. She helps us to improve our skills – speaking, reading, writing and listening. She makes it easier to remember vocabulary. One more good thing is since I am a very shy person my teacher always encourages me so that I feel much more confident now."

"Hi, I’m Sungho Kim from Korea. I’m 28 years old. I came to Ireland to learn English and practice golf. I’m the sort of person who wants to become a professional golfer. So I practice golf everyday. I think Ireland is a golfer’s paradise. If you are interested in golf, you should try to learn and play golf in Ireland. I think it is a great country to play golf.

I came to Edgewater College to learn English. I have been studying English at Edgewater College for 2 years but it is not easy to learn English. If you want to improve your English, you can practice it in many different ways. When you live in Ireland for the first time, you could feel very bored: no friends, no place to have fun, but don’t worry, go out. You will feel welcome everywhere and you can learn English everywhere. Don’t be shy, just do it. It all depends on you!"

Carlotta Nanni

“At the beginning of March I decided to go to Ireland to study English and be an Au-Pair. I was very glad and impatient to start the English class: it would be the occasion to meet some people. In the first week I went to eat pizza with a Chinese boy from my class, in the following days the others students were very kind and open towards me which made my staying in Ireland very pleasant: I liked to look after the children, to spend some time with the family in the evening, to go to English class and to discover Irish landscape. After two weeks at the Edgewater Institute, I changed the class and I passed at higher level, in Margaret’s class. She is a very good teacher, competent and motivated. The other students were interested to learn quickly and the lesson was very interactive. In this class my English got on day after day. I was lucky to attend Sharon’s class for some days and to participate at interesting discussions, where I could improve my English speaking.

I want to thank Danielle, all my classmates and the Edgewater College who have helped me when I needed them and to have made my experience special”.

“I have been studying in Edgewater College for nearly three years. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to study English. What I will never forget is the teachers, they are patient and passionate. My favourite thing about Drogheda is the beautiful landscapes and the pubs, and especially the Irish traditional music playing in the pub and having a pint of Guinness. The biggest difference between Ireland and China is the cultural difference.”

“I am here for almost 1 year now, and the best bit about Edgewater College is the people – their kindness and understanding. I am very happy about the organization of the school and really feel I am learning a lot every day. The town of Drogheda is a nice small town and the people are polite. The weather in Ireland is very different from Brazil. Keep up the good work and well done. ”

Nunu

Nationality: Chinese
Course: General English

“My name is Nunu and I have been studying in Edgewater College for more than three years. I can remember clearly the first day I started my lessons, I couldn’t understand what the teacher was teaching but now not only can I understand the teacher easily but also I enjoy watching English films/TV. without subtitles. I will always appreciate all the teachers as they are patient, attentive and friendly.

The first year I came here, I was so home sick but now I like this country, Drogheda is like my second home town, one day I will have to leave, but studying and living in Ireland will be the best memory of my life.”

Nationality: Irish
Course: TEFL/CELT

“I completed the CELT course in July 2009 after four weeks of hard work, late nights and no going out at weekends!  It was definitely challenging but this just increased the sense of satisfaction when it was all over. I enjoyed the course content, our trainers were top class and the experience of getting up and actually teaching English to students in the college was so new to me that I still can’t believe I did it! It was a great introduction to the preparations and planning that must go into giving a lesson. Our class group was made up people from all kinds of backgrounds and the atmosphere was great with everybody willing to help one another out.  Our trainers were always on hand to help and advise us and everybody in the college, from the experienced teachers to the staff at reception couldn’t have been more helpful and encouraging”.
